Our Story
Hi, we are Melissa and Arlene, two friends who share a passion for travel and Artesania. Little did we know, our paths were meant to cross as we met during a time when we both needed each other the most.
Our shared love for Artesania and travel became our source of healing and inspiration, and we decided to combine both passions by creating @viajeras_bloggeras.
Our goal is to share our love of travel and Artesania with others, Beyond the typical tourist experience. especially to women over 40 because We believe it's never too late to make your travel dreams happen,
We aim to inspire others to travel more and worry less. Which is why We are so excited to announce that our next curated travel experience will be in the beautiful city of Oaxaca, Mexico.

This is a trip of a lifetime, take it from past Viajer@s...
My trip to Oaxaca with the Viajeras Bloggeras was WONDERFUL. Each day of the trip was filled with activities that were perfectly tailored to the group of women entrepreneurs that I was a part of. Arlene and Melissa listened to each of our requests/needs and delivered! From the moment I stepped off the plane the girls made sure everything was taken care of. It was definitely one of the best traveling experiences I’ve ever had.

It is an experience of a lifetime and if you’re in the mood to learn about the culture, eat some amazing food, shop for authentic items, experience a Mezcal tour, and enjoy the great company of people, then doing it with Viajeras Bloggeras is the way to go! I would do this trip again and again!

Traveling with Viajeras Bloggeras to Oaxaca was incredible. When I met Melissa and Arlene through zoom before the trip, they were very tentative to know what I wanted to get out of the trip. We went shopping, shopping, shopping, and stumbled upon so many small adventures. We visited all the mercados, ate delicious food, did photo shoots, massages and most importantly meeting all the wonderful people who are lifetime friends now!!! I truly believe this was the best trip I've ever had... as I feel like I've left part of my soul in Oaxaca. Viajeras Bloggeras when is the next one?

Every single detail was so thoughtfully put together, from advising us on booking details, helping us navigate currency exchanges, preparing us for the weather (hello! I need to know what outfits to plan!), etc. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by both chingonas, excited to share their love of Oaxaca with us.
Our trip was full of everything you could ask for in a visit there: lots of shopping trips to many different mercados, talleres with artesanas, cooking experiences, tons of photo ops, and beautiful platicas about the rich history of Oaxaca.

Traveling with Viajeras Bloggeras has been such an amazing experience. From the beginning, both Arlene and Melissa make sure that when we arrive at our destination we are taken care of. They have such fun things planned. They don’t just focus on “tourist “ places, they actually take you to where the locals hang out, and you actually meet and hang out with artisans and the locals. They bring you an authentic experience. They are fun and spontaneous and you always feel safe. They have connections with local drivers, tourist guides, and friends who know the area.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you offer any other payment methods?
A: Yes, please email Arlene Galindo at: glamlindo@gmail.com to arrange a different payment method.
Q: Is flight included in the price?
A: No, the flight is not included, but airport pick-up and drop-off is.
Q: Do I need to have a business in order to join?
A: No you do not have to have a business. You can still get so much out of this experience as a fellow viajer@.
Q: Is it safe to travel to Oaxaca?
A: It's pretty much like anywhere in the world. These are the rules we follow anywhere we travel: (1) we do our best not to stand out, (2) we stay together, (3) If we go out at night, we either have a local with us or go out as a group, (4) we carry a fanny pack or a small crossbody to keep our possessions safe and close, (5) We do not wear anything valuable. Keep in mind that for the majority of the trip, we will have a local to be with us.
Q: How much money should we exchange & should we exchange in the U.S. or in Mexico?
A: We recommend exchanging in the U.S. Although the exchange rate is better in Mexico, you still have to cover ATM fees or have to go to one all the time. Keep in mind that if you’re traveling to buy, we recommend exchanging around $2000-$4000. If you're just traveling for fun, we recommend exchanging around $1000-$2000. Do know that there are ATM machines everywhere and places where you can exchange U.S. cash if needed.
Q: What are the Luggage fees?
A: It depends on your airline. We typically use American Airlines and they charge $30 for the first luggage, $40 for the second, and $150 for the third one. $150 for excess weight.
Q: Will I be able to ship merchandise from Oaxaca?
A: Yes, we have a place where we ship from when we travel. But sometimes it's best to weigh out your options. No pun intended 😆 It might be best for you just to bring it on your flight.
Q: Can we go out on our own?
A: Although we have always felt safe while in Oaxaca, we are not liable for anything on this trip. We will leave that up to your discretion. If you do venture out on your own we suggest always taking someone that knows the area.
Q: How do we negotiate with the vendors?
A: We will teach you our methods once you are here. However, we do suggest not speaking English.
Q: What airport do we fly into?
A: OAX, Oaxaca’s international airport Xoxocotlán International Airport (IATA: OAX, ICAO: MMOX)
